ALPA Will Never Forget September 11, 2001

Sixteen years ago, our lives and our industry were changed forever. Today, we pause to remember the events of September 11, 2001, and to honor the brave men and women who heroically made the ultimate sacrifice.

ALPA members, leadership, and staff will gather at 8:30 this morning in the 9/11 Remembrance Garden at the Herndon, Va., office for an annual ceremony to pay tribute to the crewmembers and passengers of American Flight 11, American Flight 77, United Flight 93, and United Flight 175.

Our thoughts are especially with those who are remembering dear colleagues, friends, and family members on this day. We remember our United pilots, Captain Jason Dahl and First Officer LeRoy W. Homer Jr. of United 93, as well as Captain Victor Saracini and First Officer Michael Horrocks of United 175. We remember our American pilots, Captain John Ogonowski and First Officer Thomas McGuinness of American 11, as well as Captain Charles Burlingame and First Officer David Charlebois of American 77.

Today and every day, we stand shoulder to shoulder with a shared commitment to honor those who were lost and to bolster the strength of the U.S. aviation industry. As we solemnly reflect on where we’ve been, we look ahead with determination to keep our industry unified, strong, and thriving.

We will never forget, and we will never stop soaring.
